Volunteer > Host Family
Host families are terrifically strategic to our mission
- International students are practical and staying somewhere for free can meet a need while they wait for their dorm or residence to open.
- There is more freedom to represent Christ boldly and openly, like prayer before a meal and church fellowships are part of family’s lives.
- The family very often becomes close to the international students.
- This is a terrific door while they may feel vulnerable in a strange new place.
Host Families Needed!
Hundreds of world’s brightest students will arrive to the University of Minnesota soon. Few know God. They are hungry for genuine friendships. If you have an extra room in your home for a week, you can enjoy a very rewarding volunteer experience that can impact eternity. Host families promise 5 things: (1) Meet the student at the airport. (2) Provide him/her with basic hospitality for 1-7 days in July or August. (3) Assist, as able and as needed, in transportation to UM Campus, getting a bank account, cell phone, and maybe an apartment. (4) Bring student to visit HCC. (5) Pray for him/her.
Maybe you are unable to host a student but you would be willing to help with airport pickups. Please read more here.
