Josh Driver: Handling Staff Management, Admin, Prayer, and Photography

By Josh Driver – HCC Operations Manager

When I transitioned out of HCC last autumn, I explained that I was exploring a career shift that would require me to interact more closely with individuals in a counseling, mentoring, managing, or coaching role. As program coordinator for over four years, guiding the HCC Student Group was one of the greatest joys. Although I can be a severe introvert at times and need times of solitude in nature for refueling, I love people and often find myself hoping and cheering for them quietly as well as publicly. I applied at various university positions that focused on holistic student growth, but nothing landed. During the application processes, I was still helping HCC part-time on projects. I am very grateful to Tim for helping in that transition time.

Eventually, my search returned me to HCC as operations manager four days a week. My job is ultimately to help Tim and the HCC staff succeed. I’ll be serving, encouraging, assisting, and creating alongside them to support their progress in advancing the mission of HCC. Being both a problem solver and encourager, this role fits me quite well. I love developing systems and developing people, simultaneously looking to improve and maximize them.

You’ve heard that when a door closes for someone, it opens for someone else. I am thrilled that HCC has welcomed Nick Li, a former Chinese student served by HCC, as the new program coordinator. His testimony is an example of the HCC’s mission, and he will expand programming in ways I never did or could. He is going to soar.

In the few weeks since I’ve returned, I’ve developed and would like to announce a prayer initiative to more intentionally, corporately, and deeply cover HCC in prayer. Please consider joining this resurrected prayer team! Below are some of the vision’s aspects:

  1. 2x a month prayer needs sent out from staff to prayer team via email.
  2. A private Facebook group for organic, urgent, real-time, and back-and-forth updates and conversations.
  3. More physical prayer meet-ups on location and maybe even a few prayer nights in the year.

My other transition news is that I’m pursuing professional photography. After investing into this hobby-turned-profession for over a year and establishing Josh Driver Photography LLC, I will be attending art shows in 2019 to sell my work. I’ll be showcasing and selling my work at the Dunn Bros in Arden Hills by Bethel University in February. You will find me working there Fridays.

Visit me at either HCC or Dunn Bros!
